A Special Note from Grandmaster Nam

After spending over 50 years of my life in the martial arts, I want all of my students to understand that I am still a student of the martial arts as well. When I was about nine years of age I decided to give my life to the martial arts. To this day, I have never regretted it, nor have I wished to be or do anything else. Whenever I saw a new technique, I always said to myself "I CAN DO IT!" and "I WILL BE THE BEST!" This is the attitude I want all my students to have and to fully develop. Always have a happy spirit and a positive mental attitude.

I was very fortunate to have studied with the master that I did in Korea. This master taught me the very secretive ancient and traditional art forms known as Hwang Moo Sool. I was one of the very few students in Korea who was taught the complete and all-encompassing martial arts forms from the book of King Chin Heung. King Chin Heung was the 24th and greatest King of the Silla Dynasty. His book was a compilation of all the known martial art forms in Korea about 2,000 years ago. I learned the exact techniques and forms of the Hwa-Rang Do warriors of that time period.

When you enroll at Nam's Korean Karate you are receiving a modernized or streamlined course in the Ancient Martial Arts Forms. There is no one else teaching these combined forms on the Eastern Coast. This is the new concept of Nam's Korean Karate School.

Now that you understand a little about the martial arts that you will be learning at Nam's Korean Karate School, you should know that anything you learn will not benefit you unless you accept and incorporate it into your daily life. The far more important philosophies and traditions that are taught, along with the physical skills go back in time over 2,000 years. The student must learn and live the complete Um-Yang circle of tradition, philosophy, and self-defense. When you can do this you are a real martial artist of Nam's Korean Karate School and in the Ancient Hwang Moo Sool sense. Then, and only then, I promise you... you will be the best! TANG SOO!
